It all started over Chinese food on a hot day in June. Today it has grown into a powerful website that has had over 30 million people visit it, and 150,000 have downloaded the free accountability software. Advertised as the #1 Christian Porn site on the internet, it has challenged everyone’s idea of ministry. Today we have one of the founders of XXXchurch.com, Craig Gross with us to share the incredible story of what can happen when you obey the promptings of God.
We’ve had a number of programs on Faith and Family dealing with the impact pornography is having around the world. With over 4.2 million internet porn sites and 40 million people visiting an internet porn site each day, and more importantly nine out of 10 kids ages 8 to 16 have viewed porn on line, mostly accidentally while doing homework, it is one of the most lucrative yet destructive industries affecting our world. But I would venture to say our audience has yet to hear a program like the one we have scheduled today. Craig and his partner, Mike Foster decided to do something radical to minister to those struggling with pornography. By using humor and candor plus some rather unconventional means to advertise their ministry they are rocking a number of boats both inside and outside the church.
Craig will no doubt challenge all of us with the way he approaches ministry. He and Mike warn about the dangers of pornography with unconventional campaigns like the Porn Mobile and some pretty controversial advertising. Both ordained ministers in Southern California, they are featured in a new documentary Missionary Positions and are leading a nationwide outreach, PornSunday, scheduled for October 9th with over 200 churches participating.
Perhaps XXXChurch seems radical and extreme to you, but realize many of the activities our teens are engaged in are extreme too. We must be willing to discuss the tough topics, and to face the controversies head on. Get involved, talk to your teen, and be willing to deal with the hard issues that your teen faces daily.
