Why Do You Choose to Believe the Bible?

Aug 11–12, 2005 - comments: 1

Growing up in church many of us were taught to respect the Bible. We listened intently as our teachers told us about Jesus and we sang songs about Father Abraham. But why did we learn all of this and how do we know that the Bible is true? Today’s guest didn’t have the opportunity to grow up hearing about God’s Word. As a matter of fact he didn’t even here the gospel until he went to college. As Christians, we need to know that God’s Word is the truth and that it’s worthy of following. However, some Christians obey God’s word just because it’s what they were taught to do, yet some us lack a clear understanding of why we believe the Bible.

Today we welcome to the program Dr. Voddie Baucham. Voddie is a much sought after speaker who’s going to share evidence with us for the reliability of God’s Word. Today let’s listen in as Voddie speaks to a group of believers during a Convention where he passionately challenges us to know why we believe and follow the Bible.

We’d like to thank SBC tapes for providing the audio of Voddie’s message for us. If you’d like to order a copy of the interview, you can either mail in the order form or call SBC Tapes at 817-656-1258. Just request the Voddie Baucham tape or CD from session 1 of the 2005 SBC Pastors’ Conference.

I heard this on the original broadcast, and shared it with my friends and family.  I recently revisited the topic with a friend and decided to go to the saved link.  Well it was gone.  However a search on your site led me to the new link.  I have sent the new link out for a refresher.  I hope that you continue to maintain this audio in some form as it is so basic yet so vital.  It’s important for people to understand why the Bible is believable before they can truly take comfort in its promises.  My family and I evacuated from Louisiana just before Katrina.  Knowing God’s promises to His faithful (Know the plans I have for you are for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope - Jer 29:11) was comforting beyond human explanation.  Thank you.
