Voices Behind the Veil

Today Dr. Land’s special guests are Dr. and Mrs. Ergun Caner. Dr. Caner was raised as a Sunni Muslim, and he became a Christian as a young man in Ohio through the ministry of a fellow classmate. He has been a guest with us before on the broadcast talking with great understanding about the world of Islam.

Today he joins us again to discuss the book which he has edited titled, Voices Behind the Veil: The World of Islam Through the Eyes of Women. Joining him is his wife, Jill, who is an author of one of the chapters in this book. Mrs. Caner has a degree in Justice and Public Policy and is the author of numerous articles on mothers in Islam. We are delighted that she will be joining her husband today for this discussion.

I know of no one who can provide insight into the Muslim mind and heart better than Ergun Caner, because he’s been there. Not only was he well schooled in the ways of Islam, he is now very well educated in the ways of the Lord, and God has given him a heart to reach those ensnared in the oppression and fear that are such a part of Islam.

Jill wrote one of the chapters in the book that we are going to talk about and I really wanted to get a feminine perspective to this subject. Because as you know, today we are going to talk about a special group of the lost flock of Islam-the Muslim women, whose faces are not only hidden behind the veil, but whose hearts and lives are secluded from the reach of Christians who would offer them the hope that is in Jesus Christ.

I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge Ergun and Jill expressed in the interview.

My Ears always perk up when I hear him featured on the radio.

I was blown away by especially what they had to say in regards to women.
