TV the Great Escape!
Nov 29–30, 2005
Today on the broadcast our special guest is Robert DeMoss. One of the greatest challenges we as individuals and as parents face today is determining the role of television in our homes. We are warned of the negative effects, told that it robs us of time, conversations, creativity, and it often ridicules our values. Yet in spite of the declining standards of television content, many say they are “addicted” and can do nothing about controlling the tube.
Our guest today has studied this problem from every angle and has come up with a way to help all of us gain control of this monster in our homes.
Bob DeMoss has been involved in addressing the effects of the various forms of media on our culture for the past 20 years. He is one of America’s leading conservative commentators on today’s entertainment. He served 7 years as youth culture specialist for Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family. Now, as president of Entertainment Today, Inc., he provides teens, college students, parents, educators and youth workers with the tools to think critically about the “voices” of pop entertainment – music, movies, the internet, advertising, and television. Today we are pleased to have Bob here with us to discuss the effects of television in our homes and suggest a way to be involved in the “great escape”.
As we consider the significance of the command from King Solomon that we are to “guard our hearts” it is time to evaluate our security systems.
