The Way Back Home

Jul 7–8, 2005 - comment

It was a cold, rainy night. The young man shivered from the damp and decided the time had come to swallow his pride and return home. It had been a while since he had talked with his father and he wondered what he would say when he met him face to face. Walking slowly toward the familiar house he’d know as a child, he saw his father sitting near the window in the warmly lit living room. Suddenly the father looked up, turned his face toward the window and recognized his son hesitantly moving toward him. With a shout he ran to the door, arms outstretched, ready to embrace the son he thought he had lost. Please listen in to learn how you too can walk the incredible path to reconciliation and restoration.

Today on the broadcast our special guest is Dr. Jerry Sutton, Senior Pastor of Two Rivers Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Sutton helps us understand what the parable of the prodigal son teaches us about renewing our fellowship with God. Unfortunately, many of us have strayed from our first love or we have loved ones who want to restore their relationship with God but just don’t know what steps to take to do so. As a pastor of one of the largest churches in the Nashville area, Dr. Sutton has seen thousands of prodigals return to the Lord. So we are eager to garner advice from his personal experiences.

Thank you for visiting FaithandFamily.com, a broadcast ministry of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Comments are moderated to preserve the family-oriented nature of this website and in an attempt to avoid comment spam. We welcome opposing viewpoints, and we will not turn comments away as long as your views are presented with respect to everyone.

Please follow the these guidelines to insure your comments will be posted:

  1. Use a real name, at least a real first name. We find folks are less-rude online when not hiding behind a screen-name.
  2. Name-calling and vulgar-language will not be tolerated. Zero-tolerance is our policy. We will not spend time editing profanity. If it contains foul language, your post will be deleted. Oh, and we decide what is and what is not vulgar.
  3. Comments must be on topic. Correspondence or general comments (compliments, complaints, and otherwise) are best delivered here or expressed on your own personal Web site.
  4. And please, do not post in ALL CAPS. It looks like you're screaming. :-)

Comments will not appear immediately and are subject to editing or deletion. We will make every attempt to check new comments in a timely manner, though there will likely be delays on the weekends and around holidays. If you wish to keep your comments for your records, please save them on your own computer as comments are not guaranteed to be left up indefinitely.

Other than that, we welcome you and hope to see thoughtful discussions about For Faith & Family broadcasts.
