The Purity Principle

We live in a society that not only no longer affirms sexual purity, but often ridicules it. However, best-selling author Randy Alcorn, former pastor and the founder and director of Eternal Perspectives Ministries, is a voice which proclaims the wisdom of sexual purity amid the roar of the world which mocks it.

He has written a book titled The Purity Principle in which he presents the biblical concepts to back up his claim. We recently caught up with Randy at the Christian Booksellers Convention in Florida and were able to chat with him about his book and his bold teaching on sexual purity.

Randy says, “From the time we were young teenagers, many of us have heard a list of reasons for walking in sexual purity. God commands purity and forbids impurity. Purity is right. Impurity is wrong. True? Absolutely. But it is equally correct to say, Purity is always smart. Impurity is always stupid. There it is-what I’m calling the purity principle. Purity is always smart; Impurity is always stupid. Not sometimes. Not usually. Always.” (p 11)

I am a studier of the word, and theology and have been a christian for about 12 years strong now. At my night job, I have the internet as well and some things have popped up and I am ashamed to say that for about a week or two, I felt a weakness to linger. I was wrong and ashamed and cried out to God for strength to cut this off immediately and help me to feed on his word. I f I as a mature christian,fell into this “easily accessable outlet, then I know how powerful it can be to others.
