The Light of Home

Nov 27–28, 2006

Today Dr. Land’s special guest is Dr. John Trent, a family counselor, conference speaker, author and President of StrongFamilies.com – a web-based ministry dedicated to strengthening marriage and family relationships worldwide. He joins us today to talk about a book that he has written in collaboration with Thomas Kincade titled The Light of Home: Ten Inspiring Pictures of a Strong Family.

John says, “Our world was rocked by the acts of terror that began on September 11, 2001, and ever since then our view of what’s most important has changed dramatically. In particular, Americans have awoken once again to how important strong families are in stressful times.”

“It’s still hard for many Americans to believe, but we are now at war with a host of determined enemies. And though these terrorists who hate our way of life operate in darkness, their goals have nothing to do with subtlety and shadow. When terrorists strike, their acts of hatred are carefully planned so they can be seen in the brightest of light. Their strategy is to fill our eyes-and then our hearts-with pictures of fear. And it is from these pictures that they hope to destroy our resolve and strike fear into our hearts… In fearful times like these, I’m convinced our eyes need to turn to pictures that highlight the best of our nation. In trying times, we need to concentrate on the right pictures.” (p 10, 14)

The book is a response with positive, encouraging pictures in words and in paintings of how our families can protect and preserve our way of life.
