The Divine Embrace
Jul 10–11, 2008
Have you discovered that a relationship with Christ is more than just head knowledge? Sometimes our brains are full of memorized Scripture and correct doctrine, yet we know that there is something missing in our walk with God -something more that He wants us to share. Today’s guest is Ken Gire, founder of Reflective Living-a nonprofit ministry devoted to helping people live more reflective lives so that they can experience life more deeply with God and other people. He has written a book titled The Divine Embrace in which he compares the Christian life to an invitation to dance with Jesus.
Jesus wants to draw each of us into a dance of intimacy with Him. The key is to follow and let Him take the lead.
Reading Ken Gire’s book is more of a spiritual experience than an academic exercise. Ken opens the book with a prayer that the reader will love Jesus more when they finish the book than when they first picked it up. The reader does not close the volume at the end with the satisfaction that he or she knows more about Jesus, but with a greater, fuller awareness of His love for us. That awareness calls forth the desire to love Him even more.
