That’s Just Your Interpretation

Today on the broadcast our special guest is Dr. Paul Copan, a lecturer, writer and researcher for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. He has written a book titled That’s Just Your Interpretation: Responding to Skeptics Who Challenge Your Faith.

The Scriptures implore us to be prepared “in season and out of season to give an account of the hope that is in us.” Sometimes that’s easier said than done. Conflicting world views, lofty philosophical ideas and diverse religious concepts can make one’s head spin trying to keep it all straight in our thinking.

Scripture is filled with wonderful examples of words fitly spoken-from Jesus’ dialogue with the Woman at the Well to Paul addressing the crowd on Mars Hill. Those examples remind us how important it is to know how to respond to questions and challenges to our faith.

It was St. Francis of Assisi who is quoted as saying, “Go everywhere and preach the Gospel. . .When necessary, use words.” Paul Copan’s book does a wonderful job of giving us the words we’ll need to answer the challenges to our faith of skeptics and unbelievers. At the same time, he helps us remember that our strongest argument is our faith in practice. The best defense of our faith is the flesh and blood example of God’s love and grace that each of us presents to a world that desperately needs Jesus.

I heard on the radio today that I could get Copan’s two books for a contribution to your ministry.  I am interested.  Please let me know how to do this.
Thanks.

What program do you have to have to listen to the MP3?  I cannot get it to work and I have media player and quicktime.

Watch subject. Bush is forever saying that democracies do not invade other countries and start wars. Well, he did just that.  He invaded Iraq, started a war, and killed people.  What do you think? What is he doing to us, and what is he doing to the world?
Our country is in debt until forever, we don’t have jobs, and we live in fear.  We have invaded a country and been responsible for thousands of deaths.
The more people that the government puts in jails, the safer we are told to think we are.  The real terrorists are wherever they are, but they aren’t living in a country with bars on the windows.  We are.

I listened to part one and am basically hooked. I actually prayed about this last night and Yahweh provided an answer. Our world is so full of objection to the Lord our God because so much is happening in this world contrary to His word. I believe this book will help me uncover and deflect some of the negativism of what people say in response to the gospel. I’m looking forward to reading this book because I believe it can teach me how to dig deeper in a christian to nonchristian conversation. This is also so wonderful to me because I took ethics and was able to understand the teaching of nonchristian philosophers and the foundations of their beliefs. I’m so glad the two are coming together.
