Something About Us

Feb 12–13, 2007 - comments: 3

The last time we spoke with Michael and Heidi O’Brien, they shared very openly about Heidi’s struggle with depression, and how they survived some very tough times. Many of you know Michael O’Brien as former lead singer with Newsong. He and his wife Heidi visit our studio again today to share a little about Michael’s new solo album, Something About Us … a little about love… about marriage… about tears… and lot about healing.

You can visit Michael O’Brien’s website at michaelo.org

I am a Christian Woman who has been struggling with depression and anxiety for years to hear this woman speak has been a God send to me.  The fact that she admits to being on medication (as I am) and that she allows that we can have mental illness and still be “real” Christians was the only think that could have helped me today.  I thank God for his provision and for you show. I would love to find out more about Momentum and other programs that can help women like us who have been hurt by the Church in the past.

I only heard bits and pieces of today’s broadcast (two toddlers in the car).  Praise the Lord that someone is discussing these matters.  I too have struggled with depression for years.  When Heidi said she is one to wear her feelings on her sleeve....that is also a perfect description of me.  I have actually had other Christians tell me I could not possibly be a Christian if I struggle with depression.  I believe there were many people we learn about in the Bible who struggled with depression.  Thank you for your ministry!

Michael and Heidi,
Thank you so much for your testimony!  My husband could almost be a duplicate of your marriage except that the dark years went on for many more years until my husband finally committed adultery before he repented of his sin and acknowledged his lifestyle of pornography.  After the adultery, I spent 3 days in the local psych ward and was on medication as well.  Praise to God first of all for His wonderful healing and delivering power for both of us.  You are an encouragement to both of us as we long for springtime together.  We pray that God will do through us and our testimony what he has and is doing through your yielded lives as you have shared your pain.
