Gettin’ There

The images flash before us on television, in magazines, and newspapers. Men. Strong men in the familiar gear of fire fighters, construction workers in hard hats, policemen, and young men in business suits, all called upon to reflect their true character by an unexpected event. Yet, their strength, their determination, and their heroic deeds are now forever etched on the tablets of history. What can we learn from the brave responses of those who were called to fulfill their God-given destinies on September 11, 2001?
Today on the broadcast our special guest is Dr. Steve Farrar. If you recall, Steve has been with us before and we had a great discussion centered around his first book, Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family. It was an excellent interview and I believe that book sold over 400,000 copies. We also talked about how God used that book to start Steve in a new direction of a ministry to men…
There is no question that God has blessed Steve’s decision to leave the pastorate after 15 years of service to start Men’s Leadership Ministries. We have a great need in this country for Steve’s ministry, and he is providing keen biblical wisdom and insightfulness that truly inspires and encourages men to pursue a life of integrity and godliness.
He is the author of several books, including Gettin’ There: How a Man Finds His Way on the Trail of Life and that is what we are talking to him about today. Steve is a key leader in the men’s movement and has devoted his life to equipping men to be the successful leaders God has called them to be.

I heard the 06/15 presentation in which Steve Farrar spoke. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to know if it can be made available on a podcast b/c I want my husband to be able to hear it. Thanks, Mary G.

Mary,
We are in the process of updating our podcast. It’s one of the things that has fallen behind in the site redesign. You can expect to see an updated version that includes Gettin’ There at some point (hopefully) on Friday the 16th.
Thanks for the reminder.

Excellent broadcast today. If men would fulfill their God-given role as husbands and fathers, our nation would not be in its current condition. Mr. Farrar’s statement regarding counselling for men touched me like nothing has in a long time. He said that most of the counselling he had done ultimately lands at the feet and responsibility of a lack in men taking on their God-given role in the home (paraphrased, of course). I agree. This gives me new motivation to start a men’s ministry, or at least become involved in the one at my own church. Thank you, thank you.

I was happy to hear this subject today. Just last weekend we had a retreat regarding how to step up the MEN in our Church. Amazingly your program nails a lot of the talking points we were discussing. I will definitely get Steve’s new book. We are blessed in our Church to have a pastor behind us 100%. It takes changing the culture of the Church to make this happen....not another fishing outing for men once a year. Anyway, I know God lead me to listen just at the right time.
Thanks, Mark
