Death By Entertainment

Today we are going to be talking about entertainment. I think every parent has faced, or will face, a time when their child wants to see a movie or listen to music that isn’t appropriate.

Well, our guest today as been in that position of deciding if she would compromise her moral conscience or be the “mean mom” and not let her son see the movie his friends were about to see.

The entertainment industry is not all bad, but it definitely has a “dark side.” And, I am so glad that we have Holly with us. Because, she is a movie critic, radio talk show host, and an author, but she is also a mother of three teenagers. Now that will give you some experience with entertainment.

We are going to talk with her today about her book Death By Entertainment: Exposing Hollywood’s Seductive Power Over You and Your Family. In it, she explores the incredible power that this industry wields over us-and presents the tools we need to protect ourselves, and our children, from its harmful influences.

Holly McClure has written, “Movies have become the pulpits to our society, teaching their own morality, ideals, religion and popular opinion. Television is the nanny to our children and the educator to our teens. Music is the Pied Piper of seduction that our kids are willingly following, and MTV Is the land of no return.”

In order to fight an enemy one must understand him. Holly’s book helps us to understand those powerful forces at work in the entertainment industry.
