A Tribute to My Father

Jun 15–16, 2005 - comment

Our special guest today is John Maxwell. John is a well-known speaker and author. He has written numerous books on the topics of leadership and stewardship. He has lead many seminars on leadership and has challenged pastors and encouraged pastors to develop their own leadership skills in order to be more effective in their ministries. John is the founder of Maximum Impact, which is a ministry that distributes a monthly tape to pastors and church leaders across the country.

He is a very passionate speaker and in the eyes of many people he is seen as successful, but John doesn’t care as much what you and I think about him as much as he cares what his family thinks about him. He learned this from his Father. In this message, John talks about the lessons he learned from his Dad. As Father’s day draws closer, I know this powerful message will encourage Dads. When I first heard this message, my heart was flooded with wonderful memories of my childhood and growing up under my Dad’s care. There were times I was just horrible, but he always loved me. So many of the lessons that John talks about remind me of the things my father tried to instill in me. This message really is a wonderful tribute to fathers.

Thank you for visiting FaithandFamily.com, a broadcast ministry of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Comments are moderated to preserve the family-oriented nature of this website and in an attempt to avoid comment spam. We welcome opposing viewpoints, and we will not turn comments away as long as your views are presented with respect to everyone.

Please follow the these guidelines to insure your comments will be posted:

  1. Use a real name, at least a real first name. We find folks are less-rude online when not hiding behind a screen-name.
  2. Name-calling and vulgar-language will not be tolerated. Zero-tolerance is our policy. We will not spend time editing profanity. If it contains foul language, your post will be deleted. Oh, and we decide what is and what is not vulgar.
  3. Comments must be on topic. Correspondence or general comments (compliments, complaints, and otherwise) are best delivered here or expressed on your own personal Web site.
  4. And please, do not post in ALL CAPS. It looks like you're screaming. :-)

Comments will not appear immediately and are subject to editing or deletion. We will make every attempt to check new comments in a timely manner, though there will likely be delays on the weekends and around holidays. If you wish to keep your comments for your records, please save them on your own computer as comments are not guaranteed to be left up indefinitely.

Other than that, we welcome you and hope to see thoughtful discussions about For Faith & Family broadcasts.
