I have a 19 year old son who is very confused and is making some bad choices. His Dad is a dropout Dad, even though our son lives with him. He and I were married for 30 years and have been divorced for 12. But, after hearing you on Faith and Family, I now realize that his Dad had a dropout Dad, too. My ex-husband had affairs all the time we were married, stole, conned people in business and was an abusive (verbally) husband. I see that the trend has been passed on to our son. It seems to me there is a drastic lack in men with the “Fathering Instinct” in America today. It is alarming how this lack has affected this whole generation. Please, Please, KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING - SOUNDING THE ALARM!!!! I am going to share what you said and this website, with my ex-husband. He is a pillar in his church (Assembly of God) and preaches, teaches Youth Sunday School, leads singing, plays the piano, etc. and is M I S E R A B L E!!!!!

I want to get Josh’s book “Beyond Belief to Convistions” because I am in complete agreement with his observation and hope to understand how I can help change things. Through the Grace of God, I was given the insight to start a nightly devotional with my 6 year old son. Now nearly 13, he finds his beliefs at odds with his youth group, youth leader, and most young adults in our church—in their relativistic truth, all religions lead to God mindset. The youngest in the group, he is frequently made fun of because of his “narrow-minded” beliefs and often comes home feeling worse than when he went in. I would certainly rather have this problem than be trying to deal with “whatever works for you”, but I pray that he could get connected with other youth that share his love for the Truth. Josh’s book may help us both learn to relate to this confused generation.
