I’m really surprised that apparently it’s not been talked about that the professors that were let go for discussing intelligent design that Baylor Univeristy was one of them in the movie Expelled. Am I being a bit to picky to expect more from a private Christian Southern Baptist Univ?

Hi Cindi,

While I can’t speak about Baylor from personal experience, I suspect that if they use the terms “Christian” and “Baptist” like my alma mater does (Belmont U.), I wouldn’t hold my breath.

These universities are good private schools in a mainstream, liberal arts sense (I would attend Belmont again), but don’t expect their administrators or faculty to operate any differently than those of secular institutions.

Even when I entered BU in the ‘90’s, they described it as “Baptist-affiliated… emphasis on affiliated.” :-)

The reality about these schools is that they function no differently than secular institutions on the administration/faculty levels.
