You can help the people of Haiti

By Richard Land - Jan 19, 2010 - 2 -

As the world struggles to aid those who are suffering in Haiti, many Bible-believing Americans are asking: “What can I do to help?”

With reportedly 50,000 to 100,000 dead in the 7.0-magnitude quake (some suggest the toll could even be higher) and up to 3 million needing assistance with the basics: water, food and shelter, the need is great.

Right in our homes, we can pray for those who have survived, for those who remain isolated, and perhaps even trapped, and for those who are seeking to rescue and provide medical aid to the injured. We can also pray that in this tragedy many will turn in faith to the One True God.

We can also ask God what our response should be. In a cooperative effort, the SBC’s International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board are on the ground in the midst of the devastation ministering to those in need. One hundred percent of what your gifts will go towards direct assistance.

I hope you will join me in giving through Southern Baptist causes. You can help the people of Haiti.

I have a desire to offer our home to the orphans in Haiti.  To me, disbursing the people of Haiti from the devestation may bring releaf sooner to them.  If we Americans can open out homes to the orphan that would be one less problem for the Haitans to deal with.  I don’t know who to contace regarding this offer, so I am telling you.  If you have any thoughts on this request or who I might get in contact with, please let me know.

Thank you for the encouragement and the link for information and giving. Some of our friends here in Washington State adopted three Haitian children several years ago.
