Senate to Vote to Defund Planned Parenthood and Obamacare

By Richard Land - Apr 14, 2011 - 1 -

Dear Friends:

Today or tomorrow, the Senate will cast two critical votes. As part of the budget deal between President Obama and congressional leadership, the Senate will vote to defund both Planned Parenthood and the sweeping health care reform law.

Your senators need to hear from you now on these issues!

The first vote would deny funding to the nation’s largest abortion provider under the budget deal for this fiscal year. Planned Parenthood’s record is disgraceful. In 2009, it performed more than 332,000 abortions. A shocking 98 percent of its services to pregnant women were for abortions. Cases of supporting sexual abuse and the sex trafficking of minor girls have been witnessed in several of its clinics. And, despite this shameful record, it collected $363 million in government receipts and contracts last year alone. Such funding must end.

The second vote would stop funding of the government takeover of health care. Under the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act rammed through the previous Congress, we can expect federal funding of abortion, massive cuts to Medicare and Medicare Advantage, heavy taxes on individuals and businesses, higher premiums, and strong government control that will inevitably lead to a decline in patient care. Funding of this devastating reform should also end.

If you agree, please contact your senators immediately and urge them to vote “yes” on both the measure to defund Planned Parenthood (H.Con.Res. 36) and the measure to defund the 2010 health care reform law (H.Con.Res. 35).

You can reach them through the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or send them an email here.

Thank you for taking a few minutes from your busy day to let your senators know how you feel about them spending your hard-earned tax dollars to fund Planned Parenthood and Obamacare.
