Prescription for a strong marriage? Prayer

By Richard Land - Aug 31, 2010 -

When a husband and wife consistently and selflessly pray together, their marriage will be stronger. This truism, reflected in a study discussed in the August 2010 issue of the Journal of Marriage and Family, ushers couples into a a new level of intimacy. Couples set their wants and needs aside when they are focused on God’s will for their lives and for their family.

When I am counseling young people who are recently married or who are considering marriage, I stress the need for them to insure that prayer is a key element of their life together. As the study done by researchers at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Florida State University, and the University of Virginia indicates, couples that are faithful to pray together are more likely to have a marriage that endures. There is no doubt in my mind that it is a matter of divine intervention.
